LANGLEY HIGH SCHOOL TOPS WASHINGTON-LIBERTY. 47-42
1/30/26 — In a matchup between the Liberty District’s two top teams, Langley defeated Washington-Liberty for the second time this season, earning a 47–42 win in a hard-fought battle.
Langley sophomore Mariah Armah led all scorers with 16 points, using her athleticism on both ends of the floor to help the Saxons control the game.
The contest was tied after the first quarter, but Langley created separation in the second period, outscoring the Generals 18–7 to take an 11-point halftime lead—a cushion they never surrendered. Armah dominated the quarter with scoring, assists, and steals, while Serena Gul added key buckets as the duo each scored eight points in the period.
Washington-Liberty responded in the third quarter, outscoring Langley 16–9 behind 5’1” freshman Riley Krohl, who scored six points in the quarter to cut the deficit to five heading into the final frame.
The Generals continued to push late, and Anna Jungman sparked a brief surge with a clutch steal and an and-one basket that brought Washington-Liberty within four points. However, Langley remained composed and each of Armah and Maddie Shamloo scored four points in the fourth quarter to help the Saxons close out the win.
Alongside Armah’s 16, Vicky Zawisza finished with 11 points for Langley. For Washington-Liberty, Jungman led the way with 12 points, while Krohl knocked down three three-pointers to finish with nine.
